Not a Politician.
A Problem Solver.
Merritt Farren has lived in California since the age of nine. He grew up in a middle-class family — son of a Navy pilot, attending public schools before earning his degree with honors from Stanford University and graduating from Berkeley Law.
With more than 30 years of experience in business, technology, and law, Merritt built his career at two of the world's most customer-centric organizations: at Disney, where he rose to Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Disneyland Resort, overseeing Legal, Guest Claims & Security; and at Amazon, as Associate General Counsel for Media and New Technologies, where he played a key role launching Prime Video, Amazon Music, Kindle, eBooks, and Amazon Studios, and served as Chief Legal Officer for Audible. He also held senior roles in Corporate Development at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
When the fires destroyed his neighborhood, Merritt didn't just get his family back on its feet — he fought back. He formally intervened in State Farm's rate hike proceedings as an official consumer advocate, gaining a firsthand look at a broken system and a clear vision for how to fix it.
He is a father, a Californian, and a reformer — running not because it's easy, but because it's necessary.
Merritt is the only candidate for Insurance Commissioner with the experience in business, technology, and law required to solve our insurance crisis. Not a career politician looking for the next gig — a problem solver with the skills and motivation to deliver real results for California families and businesses.
